Hello, my name is Taila,

I’m a two year old male Chihuahua. I arrived at The Mayhew due to my owner’s ill health.

I’m a very affectionate boy. I can be shy and nervous of strangers but it doesn’t take long for me to make friends with people who are calm and gentle with me. I’m also protective of my home but regular visitors are warmly welcomed. I’m very friendly with people I know and trust, and I love to climb on laps for attention and I like to nuzzle peoples’ necks for a cuddle. I’m toilet-trained, I know the usual commands which I respond well to and I can be left home alone for a couple of hours without any problems. I love going to the park where I like to potter around doing my own thing, I don’t enjoy interacting with the other dogs I meet and I can sometimes be grumpy with them. I’m a playful dog, I enjoy playing with my teddies and I also enjoy a game of chase.

I’m now looking for a forever home with a person or family who have owned dogs before and have researched my breed type. I can live with sensible teenagers but no visiting young children please. I could possibly share my home with a female dog providing we’re the right match. I wouldn’t be suitable to live with cats. My new owners will be expected to take me to training classes and provide me with a minimum of one hour of off-lead exercise every day. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you’ll be taking on a twelve year commitment which must not be taken lightly.
