Shanty
Description
Hello, my name is Shanty,
I’m an eighteen month old female Setter mixedbreed. I arrived at The Mayhew because my owners weren’t allowed to keep pets in the property they were living in.
I’m an active and friendly girl. I’m toilet-trained, I travel well in the car and I know the basic commands which I respond well to and I’m now starting to learn a reliable recall. I enjoy the company of other dogs (sometimes a little over the top for smaller dogs) and I love to run around a play with them. I dislike Joggers and cyclists so for this reason I’m looking for a country home, I’ll need to wear a muzzle on my off-lead walks and a longline until my recall is perfected. I’m a super affectionate dog and I love to shuffle up close to people for love and attention. I’d happily have my tummy rubbed for hours on end! I’m also very playful and I always enjoy a good game of fetch. I’m very people orientated, as a result I’m not keen on being left home alone so I’m looking for a home where there is somebody around for most of the day. I’m a loyal and loving girl who will make a fantastic companion.
I’m now looking for a forever home with an active and experienced owner who has researched my breed type. I’m looking for a rural/semi-rural home in an area where I can be safely exercised with minimal contact with Joggers and Cyclists. I can live with sensible teenagers and I’d also happily share my new home with another dog providing we’re the right match. I wouldn’t be suitable to live with cats. My new owners will be expected to continue my training, take me to training classes and provide me with a minimum of one hour of controlled off-lead exercise every day. If you’re interested in offering me a home you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you will be taking on an fourteen year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
I hope to see you soon,
Shanty x
