Hello, my name is Popeye,

Iâ€™m a four year old male Staffy. I arrived at The Mayhew because my owner was evicted from their home.

I’m a friendly, sensitive and sweet-natured chap. I can be shy of strangers but it doesnâ€™t take long for me to make friends with people who are calm and gentle with me. Iâ€™m super affectionate with people that I know and trust and I always enjoy a good tummy rub. I have a habit of lifting my paw to invite people to scratch my tummy. Iâ€™m toilet trained and also I know the basic commands which I respond well to. I love going to the park and get along well with other dogs I meet out and about. I also enjoy playing with my toys.

Iâ€™m now looking for a forever home with an active person or family who have owned dogs before and have researched my breed type. I can live with children from sixteen years of age and upwards but I’d prefer to be the only pet in the home. Itâ€™s not yet known how long I cope being left home alone so Iâ€™m currently looking for a home where there is somebody around for most of the day. My new owners will be expected to provide me with a minimum of one hour of active off-lead exercise every day. If youâ€™re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, youâ€™ll be taking on an eleven year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
