Jacky
Description
Hello, my name is Jacky,
I’m a seven month old male Mixed breed. I arrived at The Mayhew because my owner worked full-time and felt she didn’t have the time to look after me properly.
I’m an active and friendly boy. Sometimes shy of new people but it doesn’t take long for me to make friends with people who are calm and gentle with me. Unfortunately I’ve not had the correct training and socialisation a young dogs needs and as a result I can be fearful in new situations. I’ll bark at strangers who come to my home but regular visitors will be warmly welcomed. I travel well in the car and I love going to the park. I get along well with other dogs I meet out and about, although I can be grumpy with them if they approach me while I’m eating. I’m now starting to learn the basic commands and I’m responding very well to training. I still have plenty more to learn so I’ll need a home with someone with a lot of time on their hands to continue my training and building my self-confidence. I love to play and I always enjoy chasing after a ball.
I’m now looking for a forever home with an active and experienced owner. I can live with sensible children from sixteen years of age and upwards but I’ll need to be the only pet in the home and no visiting young children please. I wouldn’t be suitable to live in a flat and I’ll need a home where there is somebody around for most of the day. My new owners be expected to continue my training and socialisation, take me to training classes and provide me with a minimum of one hour of active off-lead exercise every day. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you’ll be taking on a fifteen year commitment which must not be taken lightly.
I hope to see you soon,
Jacky x
