Meet Huggable Hetty! She came into our care after being abandoned in a property. We were alerted to the situation and are now looking for her forever home. Hetty has a fabulous nature, being incredibly friendly. However she is really just an overgrown puppy who is in need of an experienced owner who are familiar with the Akita breed and their quirks. She doesn't quite realise her own strength and thinks nothing of trying to jump up and hug people, this is only her trying to play, however being a large breed this won't be amusing for long and we are discouraging this boisterousness. She has had no previous training but has responded to the basics that we have begun, we would expect new owners to enquire and enrol her in local puppy classes prior to taking her home, this will ensure her growing into a great, well rounded adult. Hetty will make a wonderful pet in the right home. She is great with other dogs and could live with an existing one in her new home if a successful dog meet takes place at the centre. We feel children should be aged over 12 yrs due both to her playfulness and because of the training required.
