Chunky would like to be rehomed with Barney

Hello, my name is Chunky,

I’m a two year old male Lhasa Apso. I arrived at The Mayhew with my Dad, Barney, because our owners weren’t allowed to keep us in their home.

I’m a sweet-natured and sensible boy. I can be aloof with strangers but once I get to know you I’m very affectionate and I enjoy climbing on peoples’ laps for cuddles and attention. I’ll play with toys if encouraged but I’d much prefer to be having my belly rubbed! I’m toilet-trained and I can be left home alone for a couple of hours without any problems. I’ll bark at strangers who visit my home but regular visitors are warmly welcomed. I love going to the park and I get along well with other dogs I meet out and about and I have a good recall off my lead.

I’m now looking for a forever home with with Barney. We’re looking a person or family who have owned dogs before and have researched our breed type. We can live with sensible children from twelve years of age and upwards providing they are used to being around dogs. We wouldn’t be suitable to live with cats. Our new owners will be expected to take us to training classes and provide us with a minimum of one hour of off-lead exercise every day. We’ll also need regular grooming. If you’re interested in adopting us you’ll need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you’ll be taking on a twelve year commitment which must not be taken lightly.
